The North Fork Polar Bears are thrilled to announce the 3rd ANNUAL NORTH FORK POLAR BEAR PLUNGE on Sunday, January 26, 2025. This exhilarating event will take place at Veterans Beach on the Peconic Bay in Mattituck, where plungers, and supporters will brave the cold to make a Plunge for two fantastic causes: CAST and Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program’s BACK TO THE BAYS initiative.

Now in its third year, the Plunge has become a highlight of a quiet winter season on the North Fork, with a 2025 goal of turning out 500 plungers and observers. In January 2024, over 300 plungers and supporters participated, and this year we are expecting a bigger turnout with the introduction of Plunge Teams of community members competing to raise funds for vital community services and marine conservation efforts.

Proceeds will support the mission and critical work of CAST, helping provide food, education, and support to North Fork and Shelter Island residents in need, and Back to the Bays Initiative, enhancing habitat and shellfish populations along the North Fork and Suffolk County. We are especially excited about our deepening collaboration to launch the first-ever North Fork Marine Stewardship Site.

We can’t wait to plunge for good with you! All are welcome. For first time plungers, we will guide you every step of the way! REGISTER HERE Questions? Ask us here: northforkpolarbears@gmail.com
